Installation & Commissioning
We have special test equipments available for commissioning tests of power cables. This equipment can perform on-site AC voltage tests and PD measurement on cable systems. Following on site tests can be offer for HV cable system
Partial Discharge (PD) testing is a predictive, diagnostic test used to identify problems (defects within cable terminations and joints / splices). PD testing is performed on-line, either in service during a Soak Test, or off-line during an AC Hi-Pot test.
This test is carried on HV cable (up to 400kv) by applying AC voltage with 24 hours at U˳ (kV) rating and PD measurement is done as per IEC62067.
Insulation Resistance Measurement Test
Test set‐up consists of 15kV mega ohmmeter. Insulation resistance of the cable is measured and calculated according to length of the cable per km.
Outer Sheath Dc Test
According to the specification and/or the standard, DC testing of the outer sheath is required to detect damage of the outer sheath during installation. Damage of the outer sheath includes damage of the sheath itself and damage of the main insulation. Water may penetrate the cable via a damaged outer sheath. Depending on the standard, the outer sheath must withstand 5 kV or 10 kV DC, for 1 to 5 minutes.
Test set‐up consists of 10kV mega ohmmeter. Voltage is applied to the screen wires of the cable and leakage current measured.
- Positive & Zero Sequence Impedance Measurement Test
This test is carried on HV cables by using a 20 kVA current transformer and power analyzer. A current of 50 A is applied to each phase of the HV cable by current transformer. The value of K-factor and line impedance is determined and calculated.
- Conductivity Resistance Measurement Test
Test set‐up consists of 200A micro ohmmeter. Conductivity resistance of the cable is measured and calculated according to length of the cable per km.
- Phase Checking Test
Phases are short circuited from on side and sequences are checked from other side one by one with ammeter.
- Capacitance Measurement Test
Capacitance of the cable is measured and calculated according to length of the cable per km.
